As soon as pianist Anthony Healy was old enough to reach the keys, he has been drawn to and inspired by the power of the instrument. Frequently performing across the country, Anthony has a vast repertoire and is at ease in a variety of styles, including jazz, classical, blues, and pop.

Born and raised in Westborough, Massachusetts, Anthony began playing songs by ear at age 4, starting with the theme to the movie “Superman” (the greatest superhero of all time), and continuing on to works from all genres. Initially, Anthony played simply to entertain friends and family, but what started as a hobby soon developed into something more serious. By age 14, he was studying classical piano at The Boston Conservatory under Inna Muravnik. Anthony went on to earn a degree in music education with a piano performance focus, along with a minor in Italian studies, from Ithaca College.

Before moving to Kalamazoo, Michigan in 2014, Anthony specialized in choral and general music for grades 6-12, teaching in the Belmont, Needham, and Westborough school districts, and performing regularly as a soloist and ensemble pianist in the Boston area.

While pursuing his master’s degree in jazz performance at Western Michigan University, Anthony studied with acclaimed pianist Jeremy Siskind, and also worked closely with the Music Education department.  He was awarded the All-University Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2016, and upon graduating was appointed Class Piano Coordinator for the 2016-17 academic year. Anthony went on to assist the Music Education and Piano areas, teaching Instruments of The Classroom, Senior Seminar in Music Education, and Advanced Keyboard Musicianship. While in Kalamazoo, Anthony also served as a piano instructor at both Crescendo Academy, and at The Gilmore Foundation, a non-profit that brings group piano lessons to students in underserved populations. Anthony currently resides in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, teaching K-5 music at Afton-Lakeland Elementary in the Stillwater district, and maintaining his own private teaching studio.

Beauty and Truth. Nothing else matters.
— Bill Evans

As a performer, Anthony’s playing has been featured on Minnesota Public Radio, as well as WMUK’s Let’s Hear It with Cara Lieurance.  Anthony was also part of the 2016 Downbeat winning latin jazz ensemble Mas Que Nada, performing internationally and throughout the Midwest, and can be heard on their recording Sea Journey.

Anthony performs regularly at the Nantucket Yacht Club and has been playing at The Club Car Restaurant, also on Nantucket, since 2003. More recently, Anthony has collaborated with renowned saxophonist George Young, as well as soprano Rachael Gates, and continues to delight audiences each summer on Nantucket Island.

An artist with great harmonic imagination, Anthony enjoys composing, arranging, and blending music from all genres. In every aspect of his musical style, Anthony challenges himself to live by the simple advice Bill Evans gave to Tony Bennett from his deathbed: “Beauty and Truth. Nothing else matters.”
